Development of Rocket Buoy has been a labor that was spurred by an actual drowning incident witnessed by the founders of Global Rescue Systems. It was a cold and rainy December night when a gentlemen by the name of Brian Hunt drowned in the flash flood waters of a river in rural Missouri. The founders just happened to be on that scene and witnessed the drowning. Although they tried to help, they were no better off than the volunteer fire department on the scene. They did not have adequate equipment to reach the gentleman which was only 100 feet away. After waiting almost an hour for rescue the founders heard his last words “help me”, just a few minutes later he let go. On the very next day the organization’s founders decided something needed to be done. Rural fire departments often do not have the staffing, training, and funding needed to acquire equipment and skills for the wide variety of tasks they perform. Thus the founders decided to tackle the water rescue problem first and develop a piece of equipment that is simple, inexpensive, and easy to deploy while only requiring the most minimal of personnel. After almost two years of work, Rocket Buoy is created.
